Beginners classes spring 2015

SiuMay is teaching a new Saturday beginners class (subject to a minimum number of students) at the chinese community centre Leicester Square WC2H 7DW www.ccc.org.uk

January 10th 17th 24th 31st from 12.30 to 2pm.
February 7th 14th 28th from 2.30 to 4pm
March 7th 14th 21st from 2.30 to 4pm

Autumn Term 2014

We resuming Wednesday evening classes on 17th September 2014 there's usually 10 classes per term so we should finish on the 19th November.
The 6pm class is for Intermediate Cantonese students and is held at the Camden Chinese Community Centre 9 Tavistock Place London WC1H 9SN
The 8pm class is a smaller and 'mixed' level class, they usually meet at Costa Coffee

You're welcome to try both classes and see which one suits you best, your first class is free!

Complete beginners -  SiuMay (our teacher) also teaches at the Chinese Community Centre in Leiceter Square on Saturdays. Classes there need a minimum of 4 students to run (they don't do free trials, you pay in advance for the term).

Happy New Year

New year's resolution to improve your Cantonese?

Wednesday evening classes start on 22nd January 2014 we're a friendly informal group focused on conversation, but we usually do a little bit of reading too.
The 6pm class is held at the Camden Chinese Community Centre 9 Tavistock Place London WC1H 9SN
The 8pm class is smaller and usually meets at Costa coffee
Your first class is free to see if the level suits you (and you can try both 6pm & 8pm if you like).

Tones - the little numbers on this blog

Cantonese has six tones, we use numbers after each word to identify them
1 = High Falling - as in King
2 = Mid-rising - you??
3 = Mid-level - boon3 (half)
4 = Low Falling - kingdom
5 = Low-rising - ngoh5 (I, me)
6 = Low-level - ngoh5 dei6 (we) sounds like day
